The Atoms Program

We follow the USA Hockey ADM Guidelines

Our program is an introductory skating/hockey program for the first-time child, between the ages of 4-7 (exceptions can be made for first time 8 year olds).  It is a full-season winter program (September-February) that teaches the concept of cross-ice team play from Day 1.  Our goal is for every child to develop every aspect of their skills, to eventually move up to our Mite Travel Teams.

Program Highlights Include:

Skating – Learning proper power skating/inside-outside edge use/Forward-Backward Strides

Stickhandling – Basics/hand-position/fakes

Positional Play – Offense/Defense/Goaltending

Shooting – Wrist shots/Snap shots/Backhand shots

TEAM PLAY!

Nothing gives a child a better feeling than being grouped onto a team.  The Atoms program breaks the children up, so they will play In-Hawks games against other teams, and some games/tournaments against other local Atoms programs.

The Haverford Hawks are a USA Hockey Tier II ice hockey club that utilizes The Skatium in Havertown, PA as its home rink.  We field a mix of travel teams from Mites (8 & Under) through Midget Major (18 & Under) at the AA, A, & B levels.  We are proud members of the Delaware Valley Hockey League.
